Pochodzący z Ameryki wybitny jazzman Count Basie (William James Basie), urodzony w 1904 roku w Red Bank (New Jersey), zmarł w 1984 roku w Hollywood. Artysta grał na pianinie dodatkowo komponował i był bandliderem. Był to jedna z najwybitniejszych postaci w historii jazzu.
