Dzięki 8 cyfrowo generowanym głosom, Digitone oferuje doskonałe uzupełnienie poprzednich syntezatorów Elektrona i konsekwentnie uzupełnia paletę dźwięków.
Digitone doskonale nadaje się więc jako syntezator melodii, do arpeggios i do gry akordów.
Digitone ma wiele do zaoferowania pod względem brzmienia, a paleta dźwięków waha się od krystalicznie czystego FM do brudnych, zniekształconych kolaży dźwiękowych bogatych w dźwięki.
Synteza FM, która wydaje się dość skomplikowana ze względu na swoje liczne parametry, jest uproszczona poprzez wymowną selekcję i połączenie. Po tym następuje wszechstronny filtr wielomodowy do dalszego kształtowania i modelowania dźwięku.
