Gary Moore osiągnął, to co nie zdarza się często - równie wielki sukces grając ostrego rocka, jak i muzykę bluesową. Jego znaki firmowe to rozpoznawalne brzmienie oraz niesamowite, długie dźwięki wywołujące ciarki. Gra tego artysty inspiruje, i bez wątpienia będzie inspirować, wielu gitarzystów. Napisał niezapomniane przeboje, choćby "Over The Hills and Far Away", "Still Got the Blues", czy "Parisienne Walkways" (razem z Philem Lynottem).

Gary Moore urodził się 4 kwietnia 1952 roku w Belfaście. Swoją karierę zaczął w wieku 16 lat jako gitarzysta grupy Skid Row (grającej blues rock), do której dołączył na prośbę wokalisty Phila Lynotta. Później, również za sprawą Lynotta, zastąpił odchodzącego gitarzystę grupy Thin Lizzy, Erica Bella.

Największe sukcesy w dorobku Moore'a odniosły płyty: "Black Rose: A Rock Legend" (1979) zespołu Thin Lizzy, oraz solowe krążki artysty: "Back on the Streets" (1979), "Run for Cover" (1985), "Wild Frontier" (1987) oraz "Still Got the Blues" (1990).

Zapytany kiedyś, jaką radę dałby początkującym gitarzystom, powiedział: Żeby się nauczyli wykorzystywać przestrzeń w piosence. Muszą zrozumieć, że nie wszędzie trzeba pakować dźwięki. Warto zostawić czasem puste miejsce. Tyczy się to zwłaszcza gitarzystów, którzy chcą grać bluesa.

"Still Got the Blues" został wydany w 1990 roku. Jak sam tytuł wskazuje, Moore odszedł tutaj od typowego dla swoich wcześniejszych prac hard rocka i jazz-fusion na rzecz elektrycznego bluesa.
