Grupa Snowpoet porównywana jest do Joanny Newsom czy też Bon Iver, i nie ma w tym żadnej przesady, bowiem marzycielski amalgamat eterycznej psychodelii z inteligentnym miejskim folkiem w wydaniu magnetycznej wokalistki i tekściarki Lauren Kinsella i multiinstrumentalisty Chrisa Hysona trafia prosto w serce!
Mieszczące się w nabierającym wiatru w żagle, folkowym nurcie anglosaskiej muzyki niezależnej, piosenki Snowpoet z debiutanckiej płyty "Thought You Knew", skręcające czasami w stronę jazzowej formy (saksofon Josh Arcoleo w "Love Again"), innym razem w stronę kameralistyki ("Pixel") niezmiennie utrzymują bardzo wysoki poziom.
W studio nagraniowym w Cardiff, w styczniu 2017 obok dwójki liderów znaleźli się jeszcze pianista Matthew Robinson, akustyczny gitarzysta Nicholas Costley-White, saksofonista Josh Arcoleo, perkusista Dave Hamblett, skrzypaczka Alice Zawadski, wiolonczelistka Francesca Ter-Berg i w trzech utworach perkusjonista Lloyd Haines.

Stworzyli oni wspaniały album, wykorzystali potencjał instrumentalny do osiągnięcia pełnego, bogatego brzmienia. Jednocześnie słychać tutaj przywiązanie do analogowego, "XIX-wiecznego" myślenia o muzyce, w której detale brzmieniowe, niuanse kolorystyczne, cyzelowane współbrzmienia, granie ciszą odgrywają zasadniczą rolę. Ale to pewnie zasługa songwriterskiej anglosaskiej tradycji, wywiedzionej ze szkockich, irlandzkich czy też angielskich tawern i pubów.
